Bergeron
Edith Keller Bergeron, 98, died Thursday, March 13, 2008. The Montz, La. Native and 66-year Norco resident is survived by son Warren, daughters Sandra Almerico and Deanna Weber, grandchildren Warren Jr., David, Randalll, Celeste, Joelle, Mark, Michael, Josann, Karin, Mary Beth, Stephen, Alison, Gigi, Jami and Michele and special grandson Timmy Rebowe. She is also survived by 37 great grandchildren and 11 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Clarence L. Bergeron, parents Mary Barrios and Flavin J. Keller, brothers Dewey, Sidney and Eddie Keller, sisters Claire Cambre and Cecile Lorio and great grandson Warren F. Bergeron III.
Visitation and services were held on Tuesday, March 18, at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church with interment following at St. Charles Borromeo Cemetery.
Blank
Hypolite “Hip” Gerard Blank Jr., 71, died Saturday, March 15, 2008. The Gramercy native and Paulina resident is survived by sons Richard, Danny, Daniel, Robert, John and Jerry, daughters Sally LeBlanc and Audrey Louque, brother Bernard Blank Sr., sisters Emelie Eliser, Olympe “Teta” Smith and Marie Loupe, as well as 15 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by wife Alice L. Blank, father Hypolite Blank Sr., mother Eva Blanche Braud, brother Ferrel Blank Sr., sister Leila Robertson, grandson Nathan Todd and two grand-daughters, Angel Blank and Abbigail Blank.
Visitation was March 17 and 18 at Alexander Funeral Home in Lutcher. Services were held at St. Joseph Catholic Church on March 18 followed by interment at St. Joseph Mausoleum.
Buckner
Norman William Buckner, 91, died at home on Tuesday, March 11, 2008. He was born April 22, 1916 in Yellowpine, La. near Sibley and grew up in Marshall, Texas. In 1938 he relocated to the Gramercy area. He is the beloved husband of Myrdis Nobile Buckner. He was preceded in death by parents George Wilson Buckner and Urilla Walters Buckner; brother Bryan Wilson Buckner all of Marshall, Texas and son Blane Nobile Buckner. He is survived by children Norman Keric and Harriet L. Buckner of Long Valley, N.J. and Brad Stephen Buckner of
Metairie; grandchildren S. Kieran McV and L. Ainsley F. Buckner of Long Valley, NJ; Briant and K.N. and Selena Buckner of Gramercy and Syracuse, N.Y.; Michael R. and Caroline B. M. Buckner Gustafson and Emily S. C. Buckner of Cleveland, Ohio; N. C. Page and Nicole B. Buckner of Los Angeles, Calif. and Meghan L. L. Buckner of Portland, Ore. Great-grandchildren: Everett and Braiden Buckner, Ethan, Ailey and Owen Gustafson.
He was a graduate of Tulane and LSU. He was an admired Coach and Principal of Lutcher High School; Chanel Elementary, St. Charles High School, Superintendent of Education of St. James Parish, Knights of Columbus, Lutcher Lions Club, VFW Post 5852, Quarterback Club, various professional and educational affiliations, LHSAA Hall of Fame and Tulane Hall of Fame.
Visitation was on Sunday, March 16, 2008 from 3:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Rose Lynn Funeral Services and again on Monday, March 17,2008 at 9:00 a.m. until 1:15 p.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Paulina, La.
Eulogies and Testimonials began at 1: 15 p.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial at 2:00 p.m. Interment will be at St. Joseph’s Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the Norman W. Buckner Foundation in care of the Lutcher Lions Club, P. O. Box 276, Lutcher, LA 70071.
Rose Lynn Funeral Services was in charge of arrangements.
Dicharry
Claire Olivier Dicharry, age 93, died March 12, 2008. She was a native of Gramercy, LA and resident of Baton Rouge, La. She is survived by one son, Lionel H. Dicharry, Jr., three daughters, Andree D. Voorhies, Libby D. HeItz and Marcelle D. Delatte; three brothers, Gerald, George and Benjamin Olivier and sisters-in-law Hazel Dicharry, Esther, Belle and Mary Olivier. Also survived by 11 grandchildren: Christian, and Alex
Dicharry, Maren Dahlke, Claire and Gwen Voorhies, Ashley H. Miller, Jonathan and Jordan HeItz, and Benjamin, Ryan and David Delatte; and eight great-grandchildren: Marshall, Christian, Jackson, Andrew, Megan, Ryan, Alyssa and Jonathan. Preceded in death by her husband, Lionel H. Dicharry, Sr., her parents, Aglaee Kroll and (J.M.) Joseph Marcel Olivier; three brothers; Marc, Guy and Pliny Olivier.
She was a teacher in the St. James Parish school system for 30 years. She was also a member of the Catholic Daughters and promoter of the Miraculous Medal Association.
Visitation was on Saturday, March 15, 2008 from 9:00 a.m. until funeral time. A Mass of Christian Burial was held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Gramercy, La. at 11 :00 a.m.
Interment was at St. Joseph Catholic Church Cemetery, Paulina, La. Rose Lynn Funeral Services was in charge of arrangements.
Vicknair
Linda Ann Vicknair, 62, died Friday, March 14, 2008. The New Orleans native and Metairie resident is survived by mother Thelma Elizabeth Kliebert Vicknair, siblings Patrick Vicknair, Cynthia Vicknair, Tommy Vicknair, Ronald Vicknair, Margaret Vicknair and Daniel Vicknair as well as numerous nieces, nephews and in-laws.
She was preceded in death by father Francis Vicknair and sister Sharon Luce.
Services were held Tuesday, March 18, at Schoen Funeral Home in New Orleans, and interment followed at St. Peter’s Cemetery in Reserve.
Waguespack
Stanislaus Jean “Stan or Papa” Waguespack Jr., 96, died March 15, 2008. The lifelong Vacherie resident is survived by wife Irma Hickson Waguespack, sister Marjorie Schmidt, sons Stan Waguespack and Barry Waguespack, grandchildren Michael Waguespack, Timothy Waguespack, Jay Waguespack, Lacy Bofinger, Todd Waguespack, Emily mayo, Vanessa Anseman, Matthew Waguespack and Ryan Waguespack and nine great-grandchilden.
Preceded in death by parents Stan Sr. and Emdee Burch Waguespack, brothers Harold and Jess, sisters Mildred, Gladys, Eunice, Enola and Doris, son David and daughter-in-law Judy Waguespack.
Visitation and services were March 17 at St. Philip Catholic Church in Vacherie followed by interment at St. Philip Catholic Church Cemetery.
