Heurtin

Floyd Joseph Heurtin, 74, died March 11, 2008. The Taft, La. native and resident of Norco is survived by sons Steve Heurtin, Mitch Heurtin and Floyd Heurtin Jr. and his wife Geren, daughters Lisa Ramos and Penny Blank and her husband Tim, sisters Beverly Weber and Ursula Borne and her husband Leo as well as ten grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by wife, kay Heurtin, son, Timmy Heurtin, son-in-laws, Tommy Champagne and Carlos Ramos, and sister, Milda Robert.

Visitation and services were held on Thursday, March 13 at at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Norco. Interment followed at St. Charles Borromeo in Destrehan.

Hicks

Dana Lea Hicks, 38, died Tuesday, March 11, 2008. The Kenner native and 30-year LaPlace resident was the mother of Michael and Haley Hicks, daughter of Danny and Arlene Hicks, sister of Tamara Hicks White, half-sister of Christopher Hicks and lifelong companion of Michael Carson.

Visitation at Millet-Guidry Funeral Home in LaPlace will be held Saturday, March 15, from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Religious services will follow at the Lutheran Church of the Galilean in LaPlace at 10 a.m. She will be buried in St. John Memorial Gardens, LaPLace. It is requested that in lieu of flowers, a donation be made to your favorite charity.

Sanders

Torey Michael “Soup” Sanders, 30, died Sunday, March 9, 2008. The Reserve native was the son of Henry and Angela Gabriel, brother of Brian Anthony Sanders, grandson of Lorraine Williams and Emma sanders and the late Thomas Triche Williams and Henry Sanders and devoted friend of Dwanda Perrilloux.

Visitation was held on Friday, March 14, at Tchopitoulas Chapel in Reserve followed by interment at Bethlehem Cemetery in Reserve.

Edler

Faye Edler, 51, died Sunday, March 9, 2008. The LaPlace native was the mother of Jeromey Edler, grandmother of Jeriel, Jeromey, Jr., and Jeremiah Edler. Daughter of the late Roy and Catherine Edler. Sister of Phyllis Cormack, Cheryl Dugas, Annette Cosme, Randy, Barry, Roy, Sr., and Danny Edler, and the late Susanne Lamaster. Visitation was held Thursday, March 13, 2008, at Millet-Guidry, LLC, Funeral Home, followed by a religious service at the funeral home chapel.

Barconey

Mabel L. Pack “Granny” Barconey, 83, died February 29, 2008. Mother of Werner Obleton, Jr., Lawrence Perry, Melba Smith, Illinois Barconey, Jr., Oliver Lee Barconey, Gaynel Johnson, Detta Ladd, and Tongia Anderson. Sister of Mamie Dell Terry, sister-in-law of Ernest C. Terry, Nattie Pack, and Edward Barconey. Visitation and funeral services were held March 8, 2008 at Greater Good Hope Baptist Church. An internment ceremony was also held in Montz Memorial Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were handled by Bardell’s Mortuary of Mt. Airy.

Pedescleaux

Dorothy Pedescleaux, died March 7, 2008. Wife of the late Ernest Pedescleaux. Sister of John, Lucien, Leroy, Johnny, and Brenda Ephram, Lois Carter, Georgia Davis, Carolyn E. Sambo, Diane E. Coleman, and the late Joseph Clark, Willie Leonard, Celestine Ephram, Wilma Carter, and Rachel Hebert. Godmother of Avery Carter and DeWayne Washington. Visitation and funeral services were held Thursday, March 13, 2008, at Providence II Baptist Church. Internment in St. Charles Borromeo Cemetery in Destrehan. Funeral arrangements were handled by Bardell’s Mortuary of Mt. Airy.

Peattie

Willa B. “Dutch” Peattie, 96, died Wednesday, March 12, 2008. The LaPlace resident was the wife of the late Murrell Peatttie. Mother of Joyce Coleman, Jackie Alvis, and Michael Peattie. Grandmother of Jay Coleman, Jeff Coleman, Keith Alvis, Kevin Alvis, Teddy Alvis, Shannon Peattie, and Shane Peattie. Great-Grandmother of Josh, Jason, Jared, Kyle, Hunter, Dylan, Chandler, Blakely, Joslyn, Jordan, Samantha and Jessica. Great great grandmother of Jory and Mia. Brother of Wesley Lambert. Visitation will be held Sunday, March 16, 2008, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., and Monday March 17, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., followed by a funeral service will be held at Radney Funeral Home on Dauphin Street in Mobile. There will also be a memorial service at First United Methodist Church in LaPlace on April 5, 2008, with visitation from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
