Jones County Junior College basketball standout Trenton Marshall has been named the NJCAA Division I Player of the Week for the week ending Feb. 9.

Marshall, a 6-foot-5 freshman guard from East St. John scored 24 points with four rebounds and four steals in a 76-68 victory over Hinds Community College on Feb. 4. On Feb. 7, Marshall had 35 points, eight rebounds, four assists and two steals in a 73-72 loss to Meridian Community College.

Marshall is averaging 24 points a game, which leads the state, and pulls down 7.8 rebounds per contest, which ranks near the top in the state.
