A trailer home 216 Fir St., near W. 2nd Street in LaPlace, received extensive roof damage during the severe weather that plagued the area Tuesday afternoon. A neighbor said he was sitting outside under his carport across the street when he heard the wind pick up, and watched as the roof was lifted from the trailer. No one was inside the trailer during the storm, and no injuries were reported. The National Weather Service said a straight-line wind, gusting past 50 mph, was reported in the area at the time.
