Riverside’s soccer season came to an end on Saturday, as Ben Franklin advanced to the regional round of the Division III playoffs with an 11-1 win over the Rebels.

The Falcons scored almost all of their goals in the first half of play as they seized control of the game early.

Jesse LeBlanc scored Riverside’s lone goal.

LeBlanc dribbled past midfield established position and shot through the Ben Franklin defense to score his goal.

LeBlanc, a senior playing in his final game for Riverside, was the Rebels’ most effective player as he notched seven shots on goal.

Riverside Coach Daniel Waguespack recognized Ben Franklin’s talent level before the game and knew his team was in for a challenge.

But he commended their efforts in closing out the season, a finish that included its come from behind play-in victory over Houma Christian.

“We finished strong, and it’s great to get into the playoffs,” Waguespack said. “They played their best and had fun out there.”

Waguespack said his team has come a long way since the start of the year.

“The score didn’t indicate how well our guys played. It was more of an indication of how strong Ben Franklin really is,” he said.
