Nearly three weeks after North Iberville’s Lauren Pryer scored 46 on her home floor in a win against the West St. John Rams, she took her act on the road.

This time, Pryer would a little more than half as much – 24 points. But the result was the same. North Iberville rode a hot start to a 75-30 win.

For the Bears (16-2, 5-0) it was their eighth win in nine games and another district win for the No. 6 ranked team in Class 1A.

For West St. John (6-7, 2-3), even with the loss, they certainly remain in the 9-1A playoff hunt. The Rams are tied with White Castle in the standings, and a game behind East Iberville for second place.

West St. John Coach Lester Smith says that his team will have to put the loss behind them, while also gleaning some positives from the experience.

“You just try to get better against better competition,” said Smith. “You try and minimize mistakes and improve your team.”

Tranell Mitchell led the Rams with 11 points. Destani Comminie added nine.

North Iberville notched a 23-6 advantage after a quarter, and took a 42-11 lead into halftime.

West St. John’s best quarter came in the final period, as each team scored 19.

“They’re the best team in our league,” said Smith. “They jumped on us early.”
