LAPLACE – St. John Sheriff’s deputies are looking for clues regarding the armed robbery of a LaPlace cash advance store, a spokesman for the department said Wednesday.

Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer Mike Tregre said a man carrying a gun entered American Cash Advance, located at 901 W. Airline Hwy, around 5 p.m. on Friday, January 18, and demanded money. Tregre said the man was dressed in a black jacket with writing on the front, black jeans with rolled cuffs, white tennis shoes, and a multicolored hat.

The Sheriff’s Office report said the gunman took an undisclosed amount of cash from a store employee, and ordered the employee to walk into the bathroom. The robber then escaped the store from the back door, and fled the scene in an unknown direction.

Anyone with information regarding the robbery should contact the Sheriff’s Office at 985-652-9513.
