Thomas “Poppa” “Ben” Albert Allen, Jr., 51, died Friday, Jan. 11, 2008. The Edgard native is survived by, sisters, Madeline White, Nana Rita Joseph and Sondra Allen-Borne, Esq.

Preceded in death by parents, Thomas Albert and Vivian Miller Allen.

Mass of Christian Burial was Saturday, Jan. 19, 2008 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Edgard. Interment followed at the church.

Curtis

Richard Elvis Curtis, 77, died Friday Jan. 18, 2008. The Reserve resident is survived by wife, Sarah Schiro Curtis; sons, Gary and Tony Curtis; daughter, Judy Curtis; stepson, Berlyne Williams Trosclair; brother, James Curtis; sisters, Irene Thompson, Christine Cathey and Bonnie Mayes. Also survived by three grandchildren.

Preceded in death by parents, Lubie and Minnie Bell Curtis; grandchild, Tate Trosclair; brother, Lubie Lloyd Curtis; sisters, Ophelia Curtis, Bessie Gariaino and Mayble Hall.

Visitation is Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2008 at Millet-Guidry Funeral Home, 2806 W. Airline Hwy., LaPlace, LA from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m. Followed by religious services at Funeral Home Chapel at 12 p.m. Burial in St. Peter Cemetery in Reserve.

Horzelski

John Horzelski, Jr., 59, died Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2008. The LaPlace resident is survived by wife, Frances Murphy Horzelski; sons, Shan, Jason, Travis and Ken Horzelski; brother, Stan Horzelski; sister, Connie Durel; goddaughter, Heather Clark.

Preceded in death by parents, John Sr. and Myrtle Horzelski; sister, Joan Copping.

Visitation and religious services were Saturday, Jan. 19, 2008 at Millet-Guidry Funeral Home in LaPlace. Burial to be private at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations preferred to the American Cancer Society.

Washington

Dinah Washington, 49, died Saturday, Jan. 12, 2008. The Killona native and St. Rose resident is survived by children, Shantell and Kayla Baham and Ashlet Washington; sisters, Gwendolyn Summers, Laureen and Nadine Washington, Lisa Morides, Tasha and Chante Scott; brothers, Gregory Campbell, Albert Washington, Jr., Leslie, Sr., Steven and Michael Washington. Also survived by 14 grandchildren.

Preceded in death by parents, Rosemary Campbell and Albert Washington, Sr.

Funeral service was Saturday, Jan. 19, 2008 at Progressive Church in Marrero. Interment followed in Greenhill Cemetery in Taft, LA.

STARKES James A. Starkes on Thursday, January 24, 2008 at 5:40 a.m. Beloved husband of Lilly Clement Starkes. Son of the late John and Lillian Starkes. Brother of Marjorie Shultz, Lillian Clark, Frank Starkes, the late John Starkes and Gladys Haight. Brother-in-law of Juliette Alford, Daniel Clement, Helen Satterlee, Melba Catoire, Gerald Clement, Carmen Weber, Elizabeth Cehlar, the late NIna Scalco, William Clement, Jr. and Roy Clement. Age 89 years. A native of New York and a resident of Metairie, LA for the past 60 years. Relatives and friends are invited to attend services. Visitation at MILLET-GUIDRY FUNERAL HOME, 2806 W.
