LAPLACE – Friends of St. John Library will meet at 10 a.m. on January 10, 2008 at the main branch on Highway 51 in LaPlace. Officers for 2008 will be elected. Nominations are open for all offices.

The Friends annual membership drive is underway. You are invited to renew your membership or join as a new member. Membership forms are available at all library branches. Your support will benefit all branches of the St. John Library by providing extras not included in the Library’s budget. Each year FOL provides money to purchase supplies and prizes for the children’s summer reading program and refreshments for various programs hosted by the library. Proceeds from the sale of used books and phonograph records in the central library also benefit FOL programs

FOL St. John is a member of Friends of the Library U. S. A. The FOL mission is to maintain an association of persons interested in books, to promote the full use of the library, to keep people informed concerning the library’s aims, functions and needs and to further the excellence of the library. For more information, the FOLUSA magazine is available in the periodicals section of the central library in LaPlace.
