After entering the Christmas break coming off of two tough losses in the Riverside Holiday Classic, the Rebels needed to begin the New Year in a positive way.
Mission accomplished, via a decisive 68-35 home win over Ecole Classique.
“We were emphasizing getting back on the winning track, and we were able to do that after two tough losses,” Wilson said. “We’ve had some good, quality practices leading up to this game.”
Riverside (10-9) outscored Ecole 22-9 in the first quarter and led 37-15 at halftime. Ecole was unable to make a serious push.
“We forced some turnovers early, and it led to some easy baskets,” said Wilson.
Bobby Smith led Riverside with 18 points. Kane Keller added 11.
The Rebels had lost two consecutive games by three points leading into the victory over Ecole.
Wilson said that good ball movement was a major key for the Rebels, particularly for a squad that has only been at full strength for a few weeks.
“I thought it was one of our more unselfish games,” said Wilson. “We made the extra pass when we needed to, and got everyone involved.”
