Although the Lady Rebels were coming off a huge 8-1 victory on Monday, Riverside could not find an answer for Destrehan on Thursday, falling 4-1 on the road.
The Wildcats (7-3) scored three goals in the first half, and the Rebels (1-3) were unable to answer.
“They jumped on us early,” said Riverside Coach Daniel Waguespack. “We didn’t play up to our capabilities.”Waguespack noted that while he felt his team mostly maintained the improved aggression it had in Monday’s win, it seemed his players shied away at times from the bigger, physical Destrehan players.
“I didn’t think we challenged them enough,” said Waguespack. “They passed the ball very well on us..”
That said, Waguespack was pleased with the team’s defensive play, particularly that of defender Lauren Falgoust.
“Destrehan had 20 shots and only made four of them,” said Waguespack. “She forced them into some bad shots.”
