LaPlace man found dead in front yard

LAPLACE – St. John the Baptist Sheriff’s investigators are searching for answers after a 23-year-old LaPlace man was found dead in front of a LaPlace home early Monday morning.

Maj. Mike Tregre, a spokesman for the Sheriff’s Office, said around 4 a.m. Monday, deputies responded to a call of shots being fired in the 300 block of West 2nd Street. Upon arrival, officers found 23-year old Tyrell Sinclair with multiple gunshot wounds to his body. Officials from the Coroner’s Office pronounced Sinclair dead on the scene.

Tregre said detectives are following leads, but have no suspects or motive in the shooting at this time.

The homicide is the first since July 27,2007, and the eighth overall for St. John Parish.
