No. 6 seeded Lutcher made short work of No. 27 Loranger in the teams’ bi-district matchup on Monday, winning in three games, 25-8, 25-11, and 25-7.

Lutcher will now face De La Salle at 3:15 on Wednesday at the Pontchartrain Center.

“I thought we played well,” said Lutcher coach Ricky Leblanc. “We had good energy. We usually win when we play with that kind of energy.”

Lauren Bourgeois led Lutcher (25-10) with 11 kills. Kayla Brady and Meagan Waguespack added eight each. Michelle Duhe tallied 35 assists. Holly Martin had 5 aces and Keri Zeringue added four.

LeBlanc said that he feels his team is rounding into its peak as the playoffs begin.

“Even last Thursday, when we played Ascension Catholic and lost, I felt we played pretty well.” LeBlanc said. “(Against Loranger) we hit well, passed well and played an all around good match.”

In other action Monday, No. 16 Hahnville defeated No. 17 Baton Rouge at home in three games, 25-10, 25-14, and 25-19. It will now move on to the Pontchartrain Center to face No. 1 seed Mount Carmel.

No. 13 Lafayette defeated No. 20 Destrehan in four games, 25-11, 25-15, 22-25, and 25-22, to eliminate the Wildcats from postseason play.
