LAPLACE – As the weather starts to turn chilly, L’Observateur has decided to keep you warm this year by lighting a fire under you to get in your best holiday recipes for this year’s Holiday Cookbook.

The 2007 contest will involve not only skill but also speed as you only have until next Thursday to get us your recipes for holiday treats both sweet and savory.

As usual, gift certificates in the amounts of $150, $100 and $75 will be awarded to the first, second and third place finishers, respectively.

But even if you do not think your prized fruitcake recipe is worthy of one of the top three prizes, send it in anyway. All those selected will have their name and recipe printed in the cookbook, which will come out on Wednesday, November 21, 2007.

So get busy gathering those submissions. They must be received by Thursday, November 8, 2007, 5 p.m., for consideration.

You can drop off your recipes at our office at 116 Newspaper Drive (off Old Highway 51), fax them in to 652-1633 or e-mail them to lobcommunity@bellsouth.net.

Go ahead and show the community what a great cook you are. It could earn you more than pride.

Any questions can be directed to 652-9545.
