Riverside-based Fatty’s Restaurant has had a tough time getting into the flow of its season. Four of its first seven games have been rained out, and the team has only played three district games.

But Fatty’s Restaurant, after losing two straight games, rebounded on Thursday against West Jefferson-based Ray Brandt Nissan, winning 7-5 at Riverside.

Timmy Teague (2-0) notched the win, after going six innings and allowing five runs on eight hits while striking out seven. CJ Delaneuville came in to register the save in the seventh inning.

Fatty’s Restaurant (3-3, 1-2) fell behind 1-0 in the first inning, but scored a run in the second inning to tie the game. Fatty’s would score three runs in the fourth to take the lead, 4-1.

Ray Brandt scored two in the fifth to cut the lead to 4-3, but Fatty’s answered with one run in the bottom half of the fifth, and two more runs in the sixth to go up 7-3.

Thad Louque went 2-for-3 with an RBI. Bobby Smith also went 2-for-3 with an RBI.

&#8220We didn’t swing the bats well again, but we found ways to score,” Fatty’s Restaurant Coach Britt Waguespack said. &#8220We manufactured our runs. We played well defensively from beginning to end.”

On Saturday, Fatty’s had a tougher task at hand, facing the defending American Legion national champion, the Rummel-based Nationwide Restoration.

Nationwide Restoration scored seven runs in the second inning to take control of the game and win 10-1, at Rummel.

&#8220We really had one bad inning against a very good team,” Waguespack said. &#8220It’s hard to fight back against a team like that, but we have to get better against that competition. We have to stop looking at and focusing on the name on front of their jerseys and just play the game right.”

Despite taking the loss, one good bit of news was the return of Wade Delaneuville to the pitcher’s mound. Delaneuville had missed some time after taking a pitch in the face while batting last Wednesday against Valero-St. Charles (Destrehan).

&#8220He’s back and alright. He’s doing ok,” Waguespack said.
