LAPLACE – A Reserve man survived an attack that left him with five gunshot wounds before authorities discovered him lying bloodied on the floor of his home and transported him to River Parishes Hospital for treatment.

The St. John Sheriff’s Office is searching for the two attackers, one of whom reportedly unloaded a gunshot into the Reserve man’s right wrist, left forearm, right hip and two shots into his stomach.

Just before midnight the victim, 29, claims he walked from his home on 100 Phoenix Lane to enter a vehicle when two pistol-wielding men approached him and told him to &#8220shut up.” The victim reportedly grabbed one of his attacker’s handguns when the two broke out into a struggle before the other attacked unloaded a barrage of bullets into the victim.

The bloodied victim ran back into his house and collapsed on the floor before authorities arrived in response to a witness report of gunshots.

The St. John Sheriff’s Office asks anyone with information to call 985-652-6338.
