LAPLACE – The St. John Sheriff’s Office arrested a second suspect late Sunday night in connection with the homicide of 19-year-old LaPlace resident Dow Anderson, but have yet to determine Anderson’s killer.
Jamar Vinette, 19, of LaPlace, turned himself in to authorities at 11:15 p.m. and was charged with illegal use of a weapon and two counts of attempted second- degree murder. His alleged cohort in the killing, Alonzo Narcisse, 20, of LaPlace, was arrested at 10:35 a.m. last Monday on an unrelated warrant and was booked with attempted second- degree murder and illegal use of a weapon.
Investigators will now attempt to uncover which of the several gunshots fired by Anderson and Vinette was the alleged fatal bullet that ended Anderson’s life before pursuing other manslaughter or murder charges.
Authorities responded to a witness report of gunshots and found Anderson lying in a pool of blood with a gunshot through his left eye at the 200 block of Joe Parquet Circle at 5:45 p.m. on May 18 and rushed him to River Parishes Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Vinette and Narcisse are being held at the St. John Correctional Center with $310,000 and $310,150 bonds, respectively.
Anderson’s homicide was the fifth in St. John Parish in 2007, one more than the four total last year.
