LAPLACE – Authorities charged a LaPlace man in connection with the brutal killing of a LaPlace resident on Friday night and seek a 19-year-old LaPlace resident for questioning.
Jamar Vinette, 19, is not a suspect in the alleged homicide of Dow Anderson, 22, of 142 Persimmon St. in LaPlace, but authorities believe he has information that will assist their investigation.
The St. John Sheriff’s Office booked Alonzo Narcisse with a $310,150 bond on Tuesday for attempted second degree murder and illegal use of weapons, but is still searching for Anderson’s killer.
Police arrived at the 200 block of Joe Parquet Circle at 5:45 p.m. Friday in response to a witness report of gunshots when they reportedly found Anderson lying on the ground with a bullet wound through his left eye.
An ambulance rushed him to River Parishes Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
On Monday at 10:35 a.m. police arrested Alonzo Narcisse, 20, of LaPlace, at the 900 block of Airline Highway for an unrelated warrant, brought him in for questioning and charged him with the previously listed crimes the following day.
The case is still under investigation with Det. Lt. Wayne Schaeffer spearheading the effort.
The homicide was the fifth this year in St. John Parish, one more than the four total murders committed in the parish last year.
