LAPLACE – A 37-year-old Edgard man died Sunday afternoon when his motorcycle struck the front end of a car at the corner of Paul Mallard Road and Turner Lane in Boutte, the Louisiana State Police reported.

Excessive speed did not play a role in the death of Nicholas L. Boudoin Jr. of Edgard, who was heading southbound on Paul Mallard Road when Dana K. McCoy, 27, of Boutte, drove her Ford Taurus into the intersection and collided with Boudoin’s 2006 Suzuki motorcycle.

She was attempting to turn left from an eastbound direction on Turner Lane onto Paul Mallard Road when Boudoin slammed into the left front end of her Ford Taurus and flew off his motorcycle, while the bike skidded into a drainage ditch on the eastside of the roadway.

Boudoin, who was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, sustained fatal injuries in the accident. Charges are pending following further investigation and toxicology results.
