EDGARD – While sharing a conversation near a church Tuesday afternoon, two Reserve boys were allegedly jumped and beaten with a baseball bat by five teens, who then drove off firing bullets towards the sky in victorious celebration, the St. John Sheriff’s Office reports.
One boy, a 14-year-old, was knocked unconscious and brought back to health at St. Charles Hospital. Details were unavailable regarding the status of the other teenager, whose age was not provided by the St. John Sheriff’s Office.
The violent encounter allegedly began at 3:30 p.m. at 171 E. 6th St. in Reserve when a 2006 Chevy Malibu came to a halt next to the teenagers and five young men burst out of the car and shoved the boys in ditch.
One of the boys reportedly knocked the 14-year-old unconscious with a wooden baseball bat while the other teenagers pummeled the two kids before the five young men sped off northbound on E. 6th St, firing bullets into the air in celebration.
The five suspects involved in the crime are wanted for aggravated battery. Names were not released because the parties involved may be juveniles.
