West St. John softball came off of a pair of wins in a double-header last week against Bethany Christian, but dropped a home match against Riverdale through four and a half innings to put the Lady Rams at 2-2 on the early season.
Against Riverdale, WSJ struggled early on, giving up 12 runs in the first two innings of play. They managed to post scores in the second and third behind Destani Commini’s 2-for-3 showing from the plate, but it wasn’t enough to stave off the game’s calling.
The Lady Rams opened the season on Feb. 13 with a loss in their season opener when they traveled to E.D. White in another 13-3 loss to the Lady Cardinals.
West St. John is set to face E.D. White again this week in a home match for the Lady Rams.
They are closing in on a district stretch which starts on March 19 with a home game against Ascension Catholic. The Lady Rams then face a road trip of three games to end the month before finishing 9-1A with a homestand.
