The St. James girls basketball team hung with district foe Donaldsonville Monday night in the regional round of the playoffs, leading the Lady Tigers after one quarter of play. But Donaldsonville took control with a second quarter run and went into halftime with a double digit lead that they would never relinquish en route to a 70-50 win. The Lady Tigers advance with the victory to see Ellender in the Top 28 tournament.
Brandi Jefferey led the Lady Wildcat effort with 31 points. St. James ends the season with a 20-14 record with district runner-up honors behind John Curtis in 10-2A.
The loss ends St. James girls season with a 20-14 record after going 3-5 in district play with Curtis and Donaldsonville in 10-2A. The Lady Wildcats should be right back in it next year though, as they fielded a young team this year that featured a pair of sophomores and an eighth grader in Jeffery who has already been a steady contributor.
