LAPLACE – A LaPlace boy was hospitalized Wednesday night after he accidentally shot himself in the head with a revolver.

Kendell Tuco, 17, of 123 Apple St., allegedly found the weapon at his parent’s house of the same address and shot himself in the head with a .38 caliber bullet at approximately 10:15 p.m. Authorities transported the boy to River Parishes Hospital where he was placed on a life support system with severe injuries.

St. John Police recovered the weapon suspected in the shooting at the scene of the incident, but could not confirm who owned the handgun.

Detective Lt. Wayne Schaeffer is leading an investigation of the shooting.
