The second week of competition in the River Parish’s youth basketball was just as fierce as week one.

In the 11-12 year old age group, the Gators evened their season record as they defeated the Huskies by eight.

In the 7-8 year old age the Cardinals improved their record to 2-0 as they defeated the Buckeyes. The Cardinals were led by their big man inside, Keagan Gilles.

The day was highlighted by a grudge match between the Wolfpack and the Red Raiders of the 9-10 year old age group, as the two squads fought back-and-forth throughout the game, resulting in ten lead changes. It game down to the last shot as the Wolfpack was able to hold on for the victory by two points. Braxton Duhon led the Wolfpack as the Red Raiders were led by crafty point guard Cole Amador.

And congratulations go out to Nick Paylor as he was selected as the league’s scholar athlete of the week. Paylor was rewarded with a basketball for maintaining a perfect 4.0 in the classroom.
