The East St. John boys basketball squad took their first game of the season Tuesday with an 81-61 win over St. Amant.
Trenton Marshall led the Widlcats in the win with a game-high 31. Jamaan Kenner added 17 to the total while Brandon Neal added 11.
It started quickly in favor of ESJ as the Wildcats took a 23-16 advantage by the end of the first quarter of play. A similar second quarter sent it into the break with an 18 point lead that was never in jeapordy.
The Wildcats are looking to compete for the district title in a competetive 5-5A district. They are fairly experienced, after losing a pair of starters from last year’s team that reached the quarterfinals. But as a senior, Marshall is looking to go out in his final year with success.
