RESERVE – The Lady Eagles volleyball team of Reserve Christian brought a close to their season this week, and tried to send it off on a good note with a win in their home finale as a birthday present to Coach Brandy Dragon.
But the RCS squad capped off their season and celebrated with their coach all the same after a loss to Crescent City in three games.
The first one went quickly in favor of the traveling team, as the Lady Pioneers took a 25-11 victory. The second game stayed within reach for a bit longer but also ended in favor of Crescent City by a score of 25-15.
The Lady Eagles tried to stretch the match with a surge in the third game. Alicia Kennedy scored on a well-placed bump to an empty center court to push the score to 8-10 in favor of the Pioneers. Lauren Michel added three more points a little later to break the Crescent City momentum with a kill followed by a pair of strong serves. Ashley Wilking added a kill to that before taking the serve and bringing the score to 17-21 with help from Rebecca Simon at the net.
But that’s as close as the Lady Eagles would get as an offensive error ended scoring with an 18-25 final.
