LULING – Chevron North American Exploration and Products Co. has donated 43 acres of land to St. Charles Parish Public Schools. The land donation was accepted by the school board at Wednesday’s meeting.
Chevron donated approximately 43 acres of land including the sites of Allemands Elementary, R.J. Vial and J.B. Martin Middle Schools.
The land had been previously owned by Texaco Inc. and is now owned by Chevron. The school system had been using the land under a legal servitude agreement for free and with no expiration date.
J.B Martin Middle School was granted servitude in 1966 while the adjacent, R.J. Vial was granted servitude in 1972. Allemands Elementary was granted servitude in 1976.
According to Assistant Manager of Plant Services for St. Charles Parish Schools John Rone, the land donation was welcomed by the board.
