Pageant queens named, St. John festival ready to go Oct. 20-22
LAPLACE — The 2006 Andouille Festival will be held October 20-22 under newly appointed royalty on the Percy Hebert Building grounds in LaPlace.
Ashley Kristine Wilking will reign as the 2006 Miss Andouille after being crowed the new title holder in Saturday night’s pageant.
Ashley is the 17 year-old daughter of Kevin and Paula Wilking of LaPlace. She has brown hair and blue eyes and is a senior at Reserve Christian School, planning to attend Louisiana State University on a cheerleading and academic scholarship, majoring in mass communications and public relations.
She would like to become a motivational speaker and spokesperson for the Meningitis Foundations, as well as a president and director of a National Kids for Kops Organization.
Ashley is an 11 year honor roll student with a 2.93 GPA, president of Beta Club, member of the student council, drama club, Relay for Life Team Captain, school newspaper, member of the volleyball, softball, swim & track team, where she placed 2nd at state in the 110 hurdles. Ashley is a 13-year member of the Riverland Swim Team and 4 year Varsity All-Star Cheerleader & 2 years captain.
Ashley is a 10-year Karate student with a 2nd degree Black Belt and is a certified instructor. She was named Miss Southern Star (top cheerleader) at Cheer Camp for 2 yrs.; 3 time state social studies fair winner and Who’s Who Among American High School Students. Ashley is sponsored by “Aunt Connie and the TUMBLEBUS”.
Jennifer Lane Harris will preside over the 2006 Andouille Festival as Teen Miss Andouille. Jennifer is the 15 year-old daughter of Kristy and Ricky Harris of LaPlace. Jennifer is a junior at St. Charles Catholic High School in LaPlace and upon graduation plans to attend Louisiana State University to pursue medicine.
Harris is an active member of the student council, FCA Club, 2006-07 track & tennis teams, Who’s Who Among American High School Students, an honor roll student and 1992’s Baby Andouille Queen.
Jennifer enjoys reading, volunteering at the local hospital, exercising, shopping and spending time with family and friends. Jennifer is sponsored by Jeff Perrilloux, Attorney at Law.
