LAPLACE- The St. John Sheriff’s Office has arrested a LaPlace man for two counts of cruelty to persons 65 years of age or older. Johnathan Jacob of 317 W 5th St. was arrested at his workplace.

A statement issued by the police department said Jacob was arrested after his grandmother asked that uninvited guests leave her home. Jacob became angry and began pulling phones from the wall damaging the residence. He then grabbed his grandmother and refused to let her leave.

Later Jacob was met by his grandfather at the residence and an argument ensued. Jacob got into his car to leave and his grandfather attempted to grab the keys from the ignition. With his grandfather still in the window, Jacob drove off and dragged his grandfather across the pavement until he fell.

Jacob is also being charged with false imprisonment, aggravated battery and simple damage to property.
