LHS takes first win of season against SCC

The Lady Bulldogs avenged a jamboree loss to St. Charles last Saturday in a non-district match-up, taking the final two games after falling behind through three, for their first official win on the season and a 1-2 record.

The Lady Comets also stood at a 1-2 after the scheduled meeting, which the SCC squad took into their next match-up against Ascension Catholic, falling in three games out of four to Ascension Catholic who traveled into LaPlace Tuesday.

In the Lutcher/St. Charles match, the LHS squad took control with several bursts of offense, working their way to a 25-17 win in the first game.

The Lady Comets put up a determined effort in the second and third games, taking both by a score of 21-25 and pulling into the lead for the match. But the Lady Bulldogs pulled back into an even match with a 25-21 win of their own, forcing the tiebreaker that came away in favor of the LHS squad by a score of 15-9.

Leading LHS in the win was Katie Duhe, who had 25 kills, and Michele Duhe, who posted 26 assists. Gina Monica led the Lady Comets in a defensive effort that included 19 digs.

On Tuesday SCC got back into action on their home court, playing host to Ascension Catholic in a four-set victory for the Lady Bulldogs.

There, St. Charles dropped the first game 25-22 before tying things up with a 19-25 win. But Ascension Catholic pulled out the win with another 25-22 score, followed by a 25-15 finale.

In the final stats for this one, Katie Tregre contributed on both sides of the ball with eight kills and 16 digs while Gina Monica recorded 15 assists and a pair of aces.

Coming up, St. Charles travel to St. Thomas Aquinas. Lutcher is set to head into a tournament at Dutchtown before returning in parish to take on Reserve Christian
