LAPLACE- A 34-year old LaPlace man was severely beaten in an attempted robbery in LaPlace recently.
“Police responded to a call about a battery about 10:15 a.m. and were dispatched to the 400 block of Sugar Pine in LaPlace.
“Upon arrival officers found a male subject in a vehicle bleeding from his head and back,” said Mike Tregre, spokesperson for the St. John’s Parish Sheriff’s Office.
“Two male suspects approached the man and asked him to empty his pockets. The man said he didn’t have anything on him,” Tregre said.
Police reports state that one suspect produced a black revolver and ordered the man out of the vehicle and the second suspect pulled out a rifle.
“The two subjects then began beating the man with both weapons they were carrying and then ran away and got into a dark green Mercury Mountaineer,” said Tregre.
The victim was transported to River Parishes Hospital where his condition is unknown at this time.
Police are still investigating the crime at this time.
