LAPLACE — A LaPlace man has been charged with attempted murder after a July 26 shooting incident on Jasper Street.
Brandon Lee Stewart has been charged with attempted second-degree murder and two counts of aggravated criminal damage to property.
Maj. Michael Tregre of the St. John Parish Sheriff’s Office said deputies were dispatched at 9:43 p.m. after shots were fired in the 1900 block of Jasper. Earlier in the evening, two women had an argument, into which their boyfriends were drawn.
Soon, one person in a black Mitsubishi Gallant and another on foot faced off on Jasper, guns were displayed and shots were fired. The driver departed with several bullet holes in his vehicle. No one was struck, according to Tregre.
One resident told investigators she had two bullet holes in her residence, Tregre continued.
As a result of the incident, Stewart was charged accordingly and is being held in the Sherman Walker Correctional Center in LaPlace, according to the sheriff’s office spokesman.
