‘Showdown at the Ole Swimmin’ Hole results released

LAPLACE — The River Parish Swim League Invitational, hosted by Larayo last weekend, was a runaway victory for the home team Barracudas.

Led by Brandon Klibert and Meredith Keating, each with 252 individual points in the meet, Larayo recorded 13,176.5 points to defend their summer swim title.

LaVacherie took second place overall after Sunday’s finals with a team score of 7,173.5

They were aided in their runner-up finish by five different swimmers who broke 200 points. They were Harlee Smith, Wesley Gravois, Ryan Millet, Brent Labat and Adalyne Labat.

The Riverlands Stingrays rode Kyle Wilking’s 7,173.5 points on their way to a third place overall finish of 6,390 points. A string of swimmers posted 201 points for the Stingrays including Jack Young, Matthew Torres, Dylan Kippes, Merryn Guidry and Kayleigh Smith.

Belle Terre’s Piranah swim team rounded out the local clubs with their 5,711.5 points for a fourth place finish. Eight different Piranah swimmers scored 200 or more individual points. Topping out with 252 apiece was Allie Gonzales, who set a meet record with a 29.15 in the Girls 13-14 Backstroke, Kelsi Roussel, who swept the Girls 11-12 IM, Freestyle and Butterfly. Lauren Broussard, in the Girls 15-18 division who took first in the IM and Butterfly.

To round out the highlights, Houma’s Victoria Givens made the record books with a 1:01.82 in the Girls 15-18 IM.
