The River Parish Invitational got off on the right foot for Larayo from the very beginning. That’s because it was Brandon Klibert’s foot.

The Barraacuda’s 12-year-old swimmer jumpstarted Sunday’s finals action with a record setting pace after diving in for the first event of the day, the Boys 9-10 100 Yard IM.

Klibert touched poolside first with a time of 1.13.19, about a second and a half in front of Gage Alleman of Belle Terre. Larayo’s Ben East clocked in with a third place time of 1.28.93.

Friday’s preliminaries were a bit of a precursor to Klibert’s performance as he posted a meet record with a time of 29.27 in the Freestyle stroke. He went on to win the Freestyle heats Sunday more than five seconds in front of the closest competitor.

In all, Klibert took three individual first places in the &#8220Showdown at the Ole Swimmin’ Hole,” one each in the IM, Freestyle and Butterfly. He was also a member of the first place medley relay and freestyle relay teams along with Zachary Vitrano, Brennan Clement and Ben East.
