LAPLACE — The St. John Parish Council again postponed action on a proposed land sale for a solid waste disposal company to move from Central Avenue to a site near St. John Airport.

The sale of 6.5 acres by the parish to Land-Glo LLC, the parent company of SWDI, could provide $271,320 to finance construction of a new parish animal shelter, which was originally set for that site.

However, the site was found to be in need of being filled and raised before using it.

At the same time, SWDI is looking to relocate to satisfy neighbor complaints on Central Avenue. Also, parish attorney Jeff Perilloux told the council the ordinance authorizing the sale needed to be advertised one more week in the official journal, pushing the vote on the matter to the council’s July 11 meeting, set in Edgard.
