LAPLACE — The St. John Parish Sheriff’s Office is investigating the robbery of a sailor, from another country, who was robbed by gunpoint and knifepoint.

Maj. Mike Tregre, spokesman for the St. John Parish Sheriff’s office, said on Saturday night an officer was on patrol and was flagged down by the seaman at 4:18 a.m., referencing he had been robbed.

&#8220We could not completely understand what the victim was saying, due to the language barrier,” Tregre said.

&#8220He did however say the person who robbed him had a gun and a knife.”

Tregre said as of now the only thing taken during the robbery was an unknown amount of cash.

The incident remains under investigation.
