10th annual event to observe 26th birthday of ministry
LUTCHER — The 10th annual Get High on Life banquet will be held for the first time this year in St. James Parish, according to Harold Keller, representing the organization.
Due to the fact that there were no dates available at the banquet’s usual location for the past nine years, this year’s event will be held on May 16 at the St. James Parish School Board Public Relations Building, located to the rear of the St. James Parish School Board office in Lutcher.
That facility also adjoins Lutcher High School. The event is set to begin at 7 p.m.
This year’s event will be celebrating the 26th anniversary of the Get High on Life ministry.
It was founded in 1980 as an outgrowth of a meeting of concerned citizens to address the drug problem in the River Parishes.
The seed planted at that meeting led to the formation of Get High on Life Inc., with Harold and Jeanne Keller as the first laborers in its ministry.
The ministry now includes a number of additional laborers, as well as generous supporters, throughout the River Parishes.
The current chairman is Danny Louque.
The May 16 banquet will include a meal, special music, brief remarks by individuals associated with the ministry, and testimonials from individuals assisted by Get High on Life.
Tickets for the event are $100 per couple. Various degrees of sponsorship for the banquet include Platinum Level at $1,000, Gold Level at $500, and Silver Level at $250.
