Riverside softball made use of their wildcard spot in the playoff bracket on Tuesday with a 14-1 win over district 8-2A champion Port Allen to advance to the regionals round giving them a home game today against Port Barre.

The Lady Rebels, who enter today’s game with a 12-23 season record, will be taking on a Lady Red Devils team that entered the post-season as a district runner-up. Port Barre brings with them a four-game winning streak dating back to early April.

On Tuesday Riverside advanced through the bi-district round upsetting Port Allen in the process. The Lady Rebs did it dominantly too, forcing the mercy rule to take effect after taking a 14-1 lead.

&#8220The girls did good today,” said Coach Mickey Roussell. &#8220We got a tough game coming up, but if they play like they did today, we can get it done.”
