LAPLACE – St. Charles and Riverside softball came head-to-head Tuesday, with the two teams tied in 10-2A play, for the deciding game of a split district series. Having took the first meeting 10-2, the Lady Comets avenged the 5-0 victory by the Lady Rebs just two weeks ago with a 6-0 win to secure a runner-up seeding for the playoffs which start this week. Riverside has also secured a spot.

St. Charles played host in this one and, with Mary Clement on the mound, SCC held the Lady Rebels to three hits while getting eleven of their own. Scoreless for three innings, the Lady Comets broke onto the board first when Katie Reine hit a triple with one out and was scored by an Amanda Savoie single. In the next inning, St. Charles hit their stride and batted the side scoring five more runs before Riverside’s Nicole Porrier could get the side retired.

Lisa Lambert managed to put up some offense for the Lady Rebels in the game, going 2-for-4 from the plate, with Marci Millet recording one as well, but Riverside couldn’t get runners all the way home and stranded eight in the process.

Reine went 3-for-4 from the batter’s box, good for two RBIs for SCC, while Savoie did the same. Addie Reine had two hits in three at-bats and Clement had a double.

The win puts St. Charles in a home game for the first round where they will face Port Allen this Tuesday.
