St. Charles softball entered the weekend set to play in a tournament on the Northshore where they dropped the opener 1-0 to Slidell, but won out after that with three consecutive victories against St. Scholastica, Mandeville and an undefeated Northshore team.

In the opener, the Comets were alive offensively, but were shutout because they couldn’t get the timely hit. SCC stranded a handful of base runners in the four inning tournament despite a triple that put Addie Riene immediately in scoring position for the tying run. But Slidell was the only team who managed a run in the game leaving the Spartans with a 1-0 victory.

The Lady Comets fared better in there next game against St. Scholastica. With Ashley Trosclair on the mound, giving up an unearned run with three strikeouts and no walks, St. Charles went on top first. Amanda Savoie got it started in the third inning with a double before Lauren Coniglio knocked her in with a triple. Coniglio would also score on a passed ball for the winning score and a 2-1 win.

The third game came against Mandeville where SCC sent Holly Vicknair to the mound. The Lady Comets scored three runs in the first off of a double by Alicia Zeringue and a two RBI single by Mary Clement. Vicknair held Mandeville’s offense to a pair of runs for the 3-2 win.

The final game had the Lady Comets facing a so far undefeated Northshore host team. Trosclair returned to the mound and struck out two while giving up three runs, four hits and a walk. SCC put up a burst on offense in the second inning with hits coming from Mary Clement, Gina Monica, Katie Tregre, Katie Reine and Addy Reine and scoring four runs. In the following inning, St. Charles added two more after a triple by Coniglio, who also drove in the final run in the last inning with a sacrifice fly to make it a 7-3 win for SCC.
