The three remaining teams from the local area that got through the first round of the soccer playoffs, namely St. Charles’ boys and both squads from Destrehan, fell in regionals this week to end representation from the River Parishes.

Destrehan had qualified both the boy’s and the girl’s teams in the post-season tournament, with the girls topping South Lafourche in bi-district play while the boys advanced on a win over Bourgeois. But the Lady Wildcats season ended on a 2-0 loss to Acadiana on Wednesday. The boys took on Brother Martin Thursday night in New Orleans where the Fighting Wildcats lost to the Crusaders 5-0.

The Comets made it through the firsts round after beating Redemptorist 8-1 in LaPlace last Friday. But St. Charles run ended Wednesday when they hit the road to play Episcopal where the Knights rallied from a 2-0 halftime deficit to take a 3-2 win over SCC. A 2-2 tie sent the teams into double overtime before Episcopal’s Carter Blanche managed to head the ball in at the three minute mark of the period. The loss ends the Comets season at 18-4-2.

East St. John and Hahnville each had the boys and girls teams qualify for the post-season, but they each fell in the bi-district round. ESJ’s boys lost to Ruston 5-0 while the girls lost to Dominican 9-0. HHS’s boys fell to Terrebone 5-0 and the girls fell to Chapelle 3-1.

Riverside also got to see some playoff action, but the Rebles inaugural squad lost to St. Frederick 4-2 in the bi-district round.
