LAPLACE — A 42-year-old LaPlace man was booked on child pornography charges in an undercover sting operation.
The sting was conducted by the State of Louisiana Attorney General’s Office of Charles C. Foti, Jr., along with the help of St. John Parish Sheriff’s Office.
David Keith Ryan, of 163 Maloney St., was arrested when he attempted to meet with a person he believed was a teenage girl to allegedly receive child pornography and to have sexual relations.
“Agents allege that Ryan contacted a person that he believed was a 13-year-old female from LaPlace,” said Jennifer Cluck, assistant public information officer with the Attorney General’s Office. “Ryan allegedly engaged the individual in an online chat and requested that the juve
nile create sexually explicit images of herself.”
According to information provided by Cluck, Ryan described in detail the images he wanted the 13-year-old, and that she should put them
on a compact disc for him to pick up in person.
“Ryan arranged a meeting with who he thought was a 13-year-old girl,” Cluck said. “The purpose of the meeting was to take the child pornography and have sexual relations with the girl.”
Ryan was arrested by the Attorney General’s Office agents, as well as officers from the St. John Parish Sheriff’s Office after he arrived at the place he set to meet.
He was charged with one count of pornography involving juveniles and one count of computer aided solicitation of a minor for sexual purposes.
Ryan is being held at the Sherman Walker Correctional Center on a $100,000 bond, set by Judge Mary Hotard Becnel, according the Maj. Mike Tregre, spokesman for the St. John Parish Sheriff’s Office.
Cluck advised to contact the HTCU at the Attorney General’s Office at 1-800-256-4560 or email at HTCU@ag.state.la.us, if online criminal activity is suspected.
