BELLE ROSE – Carolyn Dugas Berger, 83, a native of Belle Rose and a resident of River Ridge, died Feb. 13.
She was the wife of Archie B. Berger Sr.
She is survived by her children Sidney J. Berger, Alfred D. Berger and Archie B. Berger Jr.
She is also survived by siblings Laura Lee Durnin, Anna Mae Holt and Anna Lee Gibson, grandchildren Eric Berger, Todd Berger, Zoe Berger Kurtich, Ryan Berger, Jordyn Berger, Gerald Comeaux and Joseph Comeaux and great-grandchild Viktorija Kurtich.
She was preceded in death by her parents Agnes Landry Dugas and Sidney Dugas.
Services were held Feb. 16 at First Christian Church of Greater New Orleans, Metairie, with interment in Greenwood Cemetery.
HAMILTON
LAPLACE – Isabella K. Hamilton, 81, a native of Burnside and a resident of LaPlace, died Feb. 6.
She was the daughter of the late Albertha and Alex Kelson Sr.
She is survived by her children Ella Jones, Brenda McKinney, Michael, Patricia and Charles Hamilton.
She is also survived by her siblings Bertha Smith, Alex Jr., David, Melvin and Earnest Kelson, daughters-in-law Esmeralda and DeJuana Hamilton, Verlina and Angelina Jackson, 11 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and four great great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sons Junuis Jackson and Willie Hamilton Jr.
Services were held Feb. 11 at Rescue Mission Baptist Church, Reserve, with interment in Zion Travelers Cemetery, Reserve.
HARRIS
CONVENT – Sanders “Sugar” Harris, 50, a native of Vacherie and a resident of Convent, died Feb. 7.
He was the husband of Joyce Harris.
He is survived by his children Thelonius, Dennis, Devon and Keenan Harris, Lareisha Smith, Kuwan and Darriaus Striggs.
He is also survived by his mother Mildred Harris, six sisters, four brothers, five grandchildren and two aunts.
Services were held Feb. 13 at First Baptist Church of Vacherie, with interment in the church cemetery.
HOLMES
VACHERIE – Dewey Holmes, 69, a native of Camargo, Oklahoma and a resident of Vacherie, died Feb. 13.
He was the husband of Cheryl Brazan Holmes.
He is survived by his children Bryan Keith Holmes and Denise Marie Doutt.
He is also survived by five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents Dale and Marie Fulton Holmes, a son Scott Holmes and a sister Anna Juanita Holmes.
Services will be held today at 1 p.m. at Episcopal Church at Victory Assembly of God, Vacherie.
Rose Lynn Funeral Services is in charge of arrangements. Visitation begins at noon at the church.
MARSHALL
ST. JAMES – Warren H. “Willis” Marshall Sr., 84, a native of St. James and a resident of New Orleans, died Feb. 10. He was the husband of the late Gladys Foster Marshall and Gladis Mayho Marshall.
He is survived by his children Lorraine Smith, Warren Marshall Jr., Deborah Wickliff, Willard Marshall, Larry Marshall, Dwight Marshall and Brenda (Anthony) McNeil Marshall.
He is also survived by nephews Wilton Marshall Jr. and Romalis Pleasant, cousin Louis Marshall, godchildren Kevin Layton and Sheila Layton, companion Kathryn Layton and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a stepson Sylvester Mayho.
Services will be held today at 10 a.m. at St. Matthew Baptist Church, New Orleans, with interment in the St. Luke Baptist Church Cemetery, St. James.
The Baloney Funeral Home of Garyville is in charge of arrangements. Visitation at the church will begin at 8:30 a.m. at St. Matthew Baptist Church.
MAURIN
RESERVE – Gardenia Weber Maurin, 68, a native of New Sarpy and a resident of Reserve, died Feb. 13.
She was the wife of Eugene Maurin.
She is survived by her children Kenneth (Kim) Maurin, Stephanie (Jeffrey) Cox and Barbara (the late Stephen Maurin).
She is also survived by siblings Garnet Russel, Gene Michael Weber and grandchildren Keith Maurin, Jeremy and Samuel Cox.
She was preceded in death by her parents Garland and Ethel Weber, brother Garland Weber Jr. and a granddaughter Brianne Maurin.
Services were held Feb. 16 at St. Peter Catholic Church, Reserve, with interment in the church cemetery.
MAURIN
RESERVE – Peggy Maurin, 81, a native and resident of Reserve, died Feb. 13. She was the daughter of the late Horace “Chief” and Rosa Donaldson Maurin.
She is survived by her siblings Horace Jr. “Sonny” (Beatrice) Maurin, Louis M. (Leo) Abadie, Eugene (the late Gardenia) Maurin and Michael Maurin.
She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her brother and sister-in-law Don and Audrey Maurin.
Services were held Feb. 15 at St. Peter Catholic Church, Reserve, with interment in the church cemetery.
METCALF
LAPLACE – Patsy J. Metcalf, 66, a native of Lufkin and a resident of LaPlace, died Feb. 14.
She was the wife of the late Charles B. Metcalf.
She is survived by her children Darla Gaudet and Keith Metcalf.
She is also survived by her mother Inez Giles Tatorn and grandchildren Rusty, Jenna and Ashleigh Gaudet and Christopher, Crystal and Christine Metcalf.
She was preceded in death by her father Walter Giles and brother Jimmy Giles.
Services were held Feb. 17 at the Millet-Guidry Funeral Home Chapel, LaPlace, with interment in the St. John Memorial Gardens, LaPlace.

LAPLACE – A. Ruth Smith, 86, a native of Louisiana and a resident of LaPlace, died Feb. 12.
She was the wife of the late O.C. Smith.
She is survived by her children Gary Smith and Karen Lampton.
She is also survived by five grandsons, one granddaughter, three great-granddaughters and one great-grandson.

NEW ORLEANS – Leslie Smith, 57, a native and resident of New Orleans, died Feb. 8. He was the son of Hazel Smith and the late Eddie Smith.
He is survived by his children Darryl Gibson and Anthony Brown.
He is also survived by his brothers Leroy, Wilfred and Nelson Smith, devoted friend Mamie Lee Gibson and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his brother Raymond Smith.

GARYVILLE – Sister Gladys Weston, 82, a native of New Orleans and a resident of Garyville, passed away. She was the wife by first marriage of William Moore and by second marriage of the late John Weston.
She is survived by her children Eugene (Elouise) Moore and Shirley (Donald) Nelson.
She is also survived by her granddaughter Gwendolyn (Robert) Spann, 21 other grandchildren, 52 great-grandchildren and two great great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son William A. Moore and two daughters Evelyn D. West and Rosalie Moore.
WILLIAMS
GRAMERCY – Velma Williams, 73, a native and resident of Gramercy, died Feb. 7. She was the daughter of the late Mable Pittman and Rev. Alexander Williams.
She is survived by her children Marva Franklin, Veronica Johnson, Charles, Sheila, Heria, Herman, Hubert, Vernita, Eldred, Alvin and Terry Williams.
She is also survived by seven sisters, two brothers, 22 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren and one great great-grandchild.
Services were held Feb. 15 at New Zion Full Gospel Church, Gramercy, with interment in the C.F.B.A. Cemetery, Paulina.
