Hahnville’s boys remained in the lead for district with a 61-42 win over Destrehan while the Lady Tigers stayed right where they were despite falling to East St. John. 71-59. The win for the Lady Wildcats, coupled with a 71-59 Destrehan victory over Hahnville, leaves 10-5A with a pair of Lady Cats tied at 4-1 in district.
In smaller schools, the boys squads from Lutcher (6-17, 1-1), Reserve Christian (33-6, 1-0) and West St. John (15-6, 4-0) picked up district wins against Karr, Grand Isle and North Iberville respectively. The 63-46 win for the Rams breaks a tie leaving WSJ as the only team undefeated in their district. The 97-37 win for Reserve Christian opened district play for them as they face only Grand Isle in their district. Lutcher took their sixth win of the season to go to 1-1 with their 48-42 win over the Cougars.
St. James took on Curtis last Friday, coming out with a 76-52 victory to put the Wildcats at 17-6 and 2-0 in district. That win leaves them and St. Charles (15-8, 3-0) as the only undefeated teams in 10-2A until they meet this week in St. James. The Wildcats play host again on Friday when they are scheduled to play Riverside.
Local fans should keep an eye on ESJ’s Lady Wildcats this week as they are scheduled to travel to take on Destrehan to break the district tie, then host Hahnville, who beat the ESJ squad earlier this month.
