Luling man dies in cycle wreck

HARVEY — A Luling man died Monday when he lost control of a motorcycle in a curve and was thrown off the bike, according to Louisiana State Police.

Rainer M. Griesardt, 46, of Luling, was southbound on Engineers Road at Milepost 5.3 when he failed to negotiate a curve, went off the roadway and was thrown from the motorcycle, Trooper Omar Landrum said.

He had been wearing a safety helmet and sustained critical injuries.

Griesardt was transported to West Jefferson Hospital and was later removed from life support systems and succumbed to his injuries.
