Motions hearing set in Butler murder case

LAPLACE — Motions for two murder cases will go to court in St. John Parish this week and next according to the St John Parish District Attorney’s office.

The first concerns the murder of Natasha Baggett-Butler. Lawrence Babin, Mark Keller and Bryan Stewart were charged March 10 with the first-degree murder of Butler. The three men allegedly broke into Butler’s home on 2253 Country Club Drive in LaPlace. She was later found gagged and burned according to the district attorney’s office.

Motions filed on Babin and Keller’s behalves are for issues with discovery. An issue of sanity motion is being filed on Stewart’s behalf. These motions are set for Dec. 14.

A motion for a question regarding his attorney is set for Clinton Crockens’ case on Dec. 21. Crockens was

charged with the first-degree murder of his infant son, Julien, on Dec. 18, 2004, after confessing to police he threw his son across the room because he could not get the infant to stop crying.
