RESERVE– The Lady Cats held on in a tight game with South Lafourche through halftime, and blew the game open in the third with a 23 to 6 point run to finish off the Lady Tarpons with a 61-42 final.

Action in the first half stayed competetive as the teams traded blows to end the first quarter seperated by just three points. With 5:26 left in the second period, the Lady Tarpons pulled to within one before taking the lead on three consecutive three pointers by Carley Charpentier, Brittany Falgoust and Casara Theriot. Freshman Clemetrise Bell helped to break the momentum with a basket with just more than a minute remaining to make it 22-28, but another three by Theriot brought South Lafourche into the break with a nine point lead.

To start the third, the Lady Cats began to press the Tarpons with a hustling full court defense which disrupted the South Lafourche offense. Junior Keyona Nelson got in on the action, creating some steals and coming up with some loose balls while senior Stasha Thomas sunk six straight points to tie the game and force a Lady Tarpon timeout with 4:48 in the period.

Freshman Michelle Thomas started up the Lady Cats right back where they left off on the return, setting the tone and retaking the lead with a three pointer for a 37-34 lead. She also showed some impressive moves for a freshman on an around the back dribble to juke a defender before driving the lane for a layup just before the third quarter ran out.

The win puts the Lady Cats with a strong standing in district as they have compiled a 14-2 record so far this season. They are set to travel this weekend for a tournament in Sabine before returning home to take on East Ascension next Tuesday.
