Comets district record stands at 6-1
LAPLACE-The Comets kicked up some dust on a local rivalry on Tuesday evening when they traveled down the road to East St. John where St. Charles’ soccer upped their record to 6-1 with a 2-0 win in a non-district game.
The home game for East St. John, dropped their record back to .500 on the season after they were unable to pull even after falling behind by a goal going in to halftime.
A second goal by St. Charles in the final period of play proved too much to overcome as senior Comet goalie Casey Graver recorded several saves to keep his net free of scores.
Seniors Derek Waguespack and Steven Bordelon led the charge on offense, each with a goal.
But it was the defensive effort for SCC who used hustle and experience to keep the ball out of East St. John’s possession.
Though the match-ups on the field were competitive, the Comets team stifled and frustrated ESJ’s squad at every opportunity throughout the full extent of the game clock.
East St. John returns to action next week with a road game scheduled first while St. Charles returns home after a short road trip of their own.
