HAHNVILLE — An arrest warrant on the charge of first-degree murder has been issued for a Bridge City man in connection with the stabbing death of James Underwood in the victim’s Luling home.

Pfeil, 31, of 1900 Bridge City Ave., an acquaintance of Underwood, was living with the victim following Hurricane Katrina. He may possibly be in the Texas area, according to Sheriff Greg Champagne.

Underwood, 41, was found on stabbed in his residence at 324 River Oaks Drive Luling, on Sept. 22, after neighbors alerted the sheriff’s office that they had not seen Underwood since Sept. 6 and were concerned.

Deputies located an unsecured rear door and found Underwood on the floor in a bathroom, and had apparently been dead for eight to 10 days.

Pfeil was described as a white male, 6-0 in height and 220 lbs. in weight.

Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Jason Pfeil should contact the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office at 985-783-6807 or Crime Stoppers at 1-877-903-STOP for a possible reward.
