LULING — A 41-year-old Luling man was discovered stabbed to death in the bathroom of his residence on Sept. 22, according to the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office.

James E. Underwood, of 324 River Oaks Drive, had not been seen since Sept. 6, Capt. Patrick Yoes reported. He added an autopsy was ordered to determine how long Underwood had been deceased, but it appeared he had been dead eight to 10 days, judging from the state of decomposition.

A neighbor notified the sheriff’s office after having not seen him for more than a week, and investigating officers entered through an unlocked kitchen door.

More exact details about where in the apartment Underwood was found were not disclosed, Yoes said. “The investigating officer asked not to release too much information at this time.”

Anyone with information regarding this apparent homicide is asked to call the St. Charles Sheriff’s Office at 783-6807 or CrimeStoppers at 1-877-903-STOP (7867).
